I started knitting when I was six years old
and I am still knitting and purling nearly fifty years later.
In the intervening years, I studied ceramics at
Teacher Training college and later, married with young children,
I set up a business called Scallywags, designing and knitting
outfits for babies and children.
I went back to teaching but continued
to broaden my creative horizons by attending courses and
workshops in silk painting, calligraphy, painting, pastels,
drawing, patchwork and quilting - eventually taking a
City and Guilds in Embroidery.
As well as knitting for Rowan and Patons, I am now
designing and knitting my own range of scarves,
shawls and wraps, hats and bags and babywear.
I have built up an extensive range
of vintage patterns which I use for inspiration,
along with my collection of vintage buttons, beads,
lace and ribbons.
I especially enjoy making items to commission.
Currently I am working on some freeform pieces,
incorporating knitting and crochet, which is further
embellished with embroidery and beads,
making a truly unique one off piece of wearable art.
