I started knitting when I was six years old and I
am still knitting and purling nearly fifty years later.
In the intervening years, I studied ceramics
at Teacher Training college and later, married
with young children, I set up a business called
Scallywags, designing and knitting outfits for
babies and children.

I went back to teaching but continued to
broaden my creative horizons by attending
courses and workshops in silk painting,
calligraphy, painting, pastels, drawing,
patchwork and quilting - eventually taking
a City and Guilds in Embroidery.
Recent innovations in the production of
fantastic new yarns have re-awakened
my interest in creative knitting.
Each 'Mr DarceyOriginal' incorporates
elements of texture, colour and stitchery
and some pieces are embellished with
vintage beads, buttons, ribbons and lace
- to make a unique piece of wearable art.
