Textiles In Focus 08 are holding a charity auction
at their event this year, in aid of Cancer Research.
The remit was to produce a textile treasure for the
auction, which would fit into an A4 envelope,
based on the title 'My Garden'.
I took some photographs in my garden of our
Silver Birch tree (which was a present for our
Silver Wedding Anniversary)
and our Eucylyptus tree growing alongside the
Silver Birch (which I grew from a cutting I took
from my parents garden).
And this was the result!
I tried to incorporate all the colours from the
photographs.
The base is crocheted using a space dyed silk
ribbon with a shimmery ladder yarn.
The button in the centre is vintage and has bark
like markings on it.
It is surrounded by opalescent glass beads and
semi-precious stone chips.
I have used pearl and crystal seed beads,
iridescent beads and some vintage beads
rescued from a 1930's ball gown.
